Dra. Alba Solís Rehabilitation Doctor

Back pain, low back pain and sciatica

Back pain is very common and, in the vast majority of cases, does not require surgery. The rehabilitation doctor is the ideal specialist to treat low back pain, neck pain and sciatica with a holistic approach: relieving pain, restoring movement and preventing relapses.

Common symptoms

  • Low back or neck pain that limits your activities
  • Pain radiating down the leg (sciatica) or arm
  • Muscle knots and back stiffness
  • Tingling or loss of strength

My approach

After a careful assessment, I combine conservative treatment (therapeutic exercise, guidance) with interventional procedures when needed, such as ultrasound-guided lumbar facet joint blocks for pain coming from the spinal joints.

Frequently asked questions

Can sciatica get better without surgery?

Most cases of sciatica improve with conservative treatment within a few weeks. Surgery is only considered in specific cases and after assessing how it evolves.

What are facet joint blocks?

They are image-guided injections into the joints of the lumbar spine, indicated when the pain comes from those joints.
